1. BET (Black Entertainment Television/Viacom): For some reason B.E.T disgusts me. But I will be watching Monique’s show though. But aside from that, this network really disgusts me, not just for the low brow stereotypical stuff, but it seems like EVERYTHING they touch is so unfocused. This network never grew up. Even some of the programming sort of in my demographic (Harlem Heights) seems lack luster, VERY rehearsed, uninspired, an inauthentic.
(and as I watch that whole Taraji Henson and Tyrese “reenactment”…I am so much more sure, B.E.T is retarded. What was that “Jodi” back and forth about? I know, the movie. But it was still stupid.
2. My little cousin on Facebook “cyber cakin” to the ladies: Im 13 years older than my cousin. But dammit he’s still a child to me. And it is just so gross for him writing to other women like he’s grown and I HAVE TO READ IT. I know I could have denied his friend request, but I was a little curious. And now I’m just grossed out. And I’m even more taken aback at how forward young women are. “You are so dam!n sex!y”, is not how a young woman signals she’s interested. I have been tempted a few times to comment on some of his updates to the ladies and vice versa. But I figure I have plenty of time to embarrass my children on social networks when I have them.
3. Beyonce’s dress on the awards show tonight: nuff said.

J kept remarking on how short B’s dress was and he wasn’t feeling his woman dressed like that. I was more appalled by how 1980s she looked… her hair looked like it needed to be brushed and them shoulder pads? Girl stop. I heard those were coming back in though… NGBATDI.
What grosses me out (besides Beyonce’s weird Ave Maria medley) was that they had those little girls on stage for Lil’ Wayne’s performance. It was real….um, R. Kelly’ish. And then they were all circling Drake (why wouldn’t he get up from that stool?) who was wearing a Mr. Rodgers style chesta molesta getup. I think it got too creepy for Drake, because he eventually crept of stage. Yuck.
Now, I do enjoy some Bey, but she needs to realize that she is a performer, not a true diva – because as we all know, a diva is *NOT* the female version of a hustler, it’s a woman with PIPES of gold, not lacefronts of gold. I have to sing Ave Maria at a friend’s wedding next year, and her performance made me feel much better – can’t do worse! Stay away from classical music and start bouncing or something. Sheesh.

Even though I forgot about the BET awards I heard Joe Jackson used it as an opportunity not to remember his son, but to plug his new record company. I’m disgusted…that is such bad form. Especially knowing he was a big part of the Michael issues in the first place.

I for one enjoy this year’s award show right up until Ving Rhames start talking about guns…after that it went downhill until Drake…who tastefully censored his song…and then down hill again with Weezy F. Baby and his daughter, nieces and cousins on the stage while he performed the Ho Anthem and using them as Ho Spokesmodels…so sad.
All in all it was much better than previous years and since it’s the only time I tune in to BET, I harbor no feelings of disgusts.

We all know BET is owned by Viacom now. It is no longer black owned, and hasn’t had decent programming on since the original owner gave it up.
I think I must be the only person who didn’t watch the BET Awards. I haven’t watched BET since about 2005 because it disgusts me too! That channel makes me feel terrible, because sometimes that’s the only view of Us that some non-blacks get to see. No wonder we’re seen as freak hoes and flashy criminals.

The Hangover – Loved it. It was soooo over the top but entertaining & hilarious. Liked the music too.
Definitely NOT BET’s finest hour. The highlights of the awards show for me: Jay-Z, Maxwell, Monica & Keyshia, Johnny Gill, Ne-Yo, Tyrese (not Jody), Tevin Campbell (LOVED him when I was younger & I still listen to his music), BBD & the O’Jays. It was also a highlight to see that Lil Wayne showered for the occasion. I like him but he always looks so dirty to me.
I also loved the premiere of Jay-Z’s D.O.A. video. shown after the awards show.

Several critics talked about the robots in their reviews but I was assuming that they were reaching but it was there.

I saw the BET awards because I was at a friend’s house and he was watching it. It was the first awards show I’ve seen in about four years. Three best performances: Jay-Z doing DOA, NeYo doing Lady In My Life (he sounded just like Michael), and the 90’s R&B performance with Keith Sweat (has he aged?), Guy and Bell Biv Devoe.
Cosign on the list Comeback. I normally don’t watch Black Evil Television. I’ve only seen it recently for the MJ tributes and last night. TV One blows them out the water. Beyonce’s dress looked like a negligee, but I wasn’t complaining.

Didn’t watch the BET awards… Caught a glimpse of the Ojay’s tribute and I think it was decent (Trey Songz is a cutie!!!), but other than that… I don’t watch BET so I don’t really have an opinion on them.
Things that currently annoy me to the point of grossing me out:
* The fact that I won’t be able to attend a good friend’s wedding in September… UGH!!!!!!
* The landscaping in my apartment complex this morning… they had just put in manure. Bleh!
* The fact that I’m being responsible while my girls will do it up in New Orleans next week-end… I swear sense of responsibility is a curse.

I am disgusted at the artist that were unwilling to make changes to their original performances to do something for Michael… yeah Im lookin at you Bey and jay (he could have done song cry, or re worked that aaliyah missing you joint..something)…
and at BET for overhyping the mj tribute to gain viewership…even in death everyone wants to profit of Michael Jackson…
Ah a subject I know well, the world of entertainment and media related companies..in truth I havent watched BET all year yea thats right all year-didnt peep the awards I was giggin gettin paid.
As for BET. Well Bob Johnson when still the owner did contribute to the lack of quality programming it was under his watch that he deaded the news and teen summit so dont get all nostalgic over Bob, his lame a$$ is now looking to sell the NBA’s Bobcats-LOSER…literally!!! For a loss might I add.
BET is a irrelevant-no original programming which if they had it like HBO they then could make money on the DVD boxed sets (Sex in the City, Sorpranos, The Wire) or in syndication-NBC’s Universal Law and Order franchises OWN syndication but no instead more cooning and chucking and jiving. And those are just the executives.
If they would have had some original pgmm, those revenues could’ve “tentpoled” their original pgm division (if they even have one) now you got money and a body of work to lure good writers and producers who are the main ppl behind TV shows-but for BJ all BET ever was is the media’s version of crack. Low cost across the board (I interviewed for em in 03 in NYC and the office still look like it was under construction), no real overhead this explains why although just abut EVERY media company has a studio in NYC or LA BET never did this till Viacom brought it. And BET has no “go to see program”. In truth you dont really need a studio in either of these cities you can rent studio space and do remote set ups from the street. I mean you’re BET and have no presence in the nations two largest cities (both are entertainment/cultural trendsetters and have huge black populations) until damn near 30 yrs of existence-yaaaawwwwwn.

I read that too… I think it’s so monkey. And it’s monkey if BET is allowing that to hinder the artists they want.

1. I haven’t watched BET with feeling since Chris Thomas was mayor of Rap City. From what I’ve read about the Awards, I’m glad I don’t have cable.
2. Facebook, to me anyway, is the electronic sausage factory: I don’t want to know who’s zooming who (regardless of acquaintanceship), as it were. I don’t have an account there, and I’m grateful I don’t.
3. I saw a picture of B in this wacktastic getup and my question remains: uhhh, we’re celebrating MJ, right? So where do the “dress” and “Ave Maria” come in? Again, so glad I don’t have cable.
