Ladies, tell me something, where yo boss roster at?
Nothing unnerves The Comeback Girl more than beginning her posts with Beyonce “Diva” colloquialism than a single woman who is roster light.
I spend quite a bit of time lurking all over Al Gore’s Internet, only to find all of us ladies wanting true love at a very risky emotional cost and wanting said love yesterday. Its what romantic comedies and black blogs are made of (along with my penchant for ending my own sentences with prepositions).
As a woman I am learning that perfecting the art of the multi-task (with my legs closed), is one of the single most important strategies which will ensure my “dating game” success, whereby the object is to get the best man designed for me: not just for my libido or for my “I’m single and 30 something” ego.
And you’ll notice that once a woman has perfected the art of her own muti-task, there’s always some man (whose actively cultivating his own roster by the way), telling women that they play too many games, are being highly manipulative or just being lazy and passive. I call bullshat and Kimfoolery, when a man is
“hating” (i hate the word “hating” btw) on your multi-task steelo, consider yourself doing something right!!
Top 3 reasons everyone woman needs a roster aka a multi-task dat @zz spreadsheet.
1. It takes the pressure off of one man and your pixie dust imagination of him: We create castles in the sand built on one date or one phone call or one “how you doing” in passing. Having a roster ensures that your pixie dust shapshifting is managed. He said “maybe we’ll get lunch next week”. You’re not trippin’ if he calls or gets hit by a bus tomorrow. You have other men who are actively pursuing and are interested in wonderful and glorious you.
2. He’s the bombdiggity and all that jazz, compared to what? I honestly believe (particularly when se!x is completely out of the equation) that its good to do a “stare and compare” with your “pair and a spare”. You have an ongoing frame of reference, not just putting some dude up to the a!ssholish boyfriend you were involved with 6 months ago. And frankly, men act differently when they’re being mutli-tasked. They have a sixth sense regarding the matter and men ideally want to win. Dating is a game. You don’t like it sister, cry me a river and then get over it. Your sole purpose in this love hustle is to eliminate and find the right man for you, and learn about yourself in the process.
3. Its Fun-Our goal should be primarily about having FUN. You should have so many stories to tell your grown daughters and grandaughters, that they’ll beg to pen your life-love story and film adaptation. Love lives on yadda yadda yadda, its ***cue Barbra*** eternal, ageless and evergreen

As we all know multitasking that arss is my favorite pasttime for all the reasons listed above. Even with the entering of Mr. SWV, I never dropped the roster…which enabled me to pick up where I left off. I’ve had upwards of 10 guys on my roster most of which have never even got a whiff of my aquarium. No lollies no chitty chitty bang bang. As founder of the justnotrightnowiates multitasking is necessary and will continue on my end with my bidness closed until further notice.

Hmmm….I am all for multi-tasking. I get a lil busy sometimes and I kinda know at this very moment to have what I want I gotta stay that way, but can we please, please talk about multi-tasking but keeping enough time for you, can we include how in multi-tasking can leave you without enough time to make sure you are still bettering yourself?

Gotta agree with Jolie here. I think most NORMAL women understand from jump that men they are just beginning to date are prolly dating and seeing other women. BUT WE DO NOT NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT UNLESS WE ASK (and sometimes not even then). When you’re around me or with me, I need you’re undivided attention and should never have to feel like I’m COMPETING for your time WHILE I’m spending time with you.

I thought that pretty much went without saying. Muti-tasking is ALL about you and what YOU want..and not choosing the first guy who “chooses” you. I’ve also written on topics of it not being “about him.” Multi-tasking is THE best female centric and empowering thing a woman can do.

Within my manicane. I have NOT had “relations” as in pe*netration with any of them accept Mr. Lightbright on my birthday which was in Dec. I have got hot and heavy..sat on some couches and such. Gotten some lollies.. but no penet*ration other than “lightbright.” I multi-task but I do not turn into a full on strumpet while doing so..

Girl my cousin is the same way… she can’t go anywhere without him so I simply don’t ask.. we used to be so close growing up…. we talk everyday, but mainly about her kids and how her bf/fiance gets on her nerves or how he’s fabulous. BLAH.

I think you’re missing the point…I honestly don’t think it has ANYTHING to do with being scared of being alone. I think the opposite couldn’t be more true. Its knowing what you like by cultivating a frame of reference. Its about not putting all your eggs in one basket (diversification), its about taking the pressure off of ONE man..

I actually got the “you need to multitask speech” from one of my girlfriends yesterday. Now mind you I’ve had a “boyfriend” for 8 months now but he acted a plum fool on NYE and told me to go out by myself. When I did, I crossed paths with a guy who’s been trying to get at me for 6 years now. He’s offering to fly me to where he live. My girl is telling me to go for it since my bf still needs to redeem himself from his issues (in case ya’ll don’t remember this is the fool who got drunk, threw stuff around my house, said he was an alcoholic and retracted the statement so he could “at least drink beer during the game.”)

@ Holly – No. He attended a few AA mtgs (I think just to make me THINK he’s changed) but seriously feels that because he doesn’t wake up and drink that he doesn’t have an issue. He was drunk every weekend for the first 6 months we dated. I didn’t really notice because we were going out a lot and I work for an alcohol beverage company so I’m always around drunk folk. It wasn’t until it hit close to home that my concerns grew.

Comeback the last man I met was and is still trying to eat the poon. LOL… Another just contacted me on myspace and asked to take me out (but I don’t know him like that) and from his profile, he looks like a pseudo thug. The one before that was Tenderoni and yaw know what he did.
I’ve been going out… they just ain’t been taking it further than a conversation.. I met and chatted with a guy with a wedding band on and I made sure I asked him how long he been married???? It’s just about them wanting to be good for you…which isn’t the case. There are men who are dogs who are willing to change…I’m just saying it just depends.
I multi-task because I havent found someone with all the characteristics I’m looking for.. or discovered all of them in the current roster.I’m actually making cuts after long thought about what I really want in a quality PH and probably will be down to zero by end of week (on that list) BUT due to the inauguration being here this week coming up I’m sure it will build up again.. and if not .. OH WELL. I’m not into wasting my time with people that dont have the qualities I’m looking for ANYMORE..

it does its like all star weekend. Jolster is right DC is great to date..QUALITY requires some “picking through the fruit” so to speak..this isnt a town to get bored on lonely on a sat night…BUT you do have to do some real investigative WORK to pull the better ones on the team.

But you gotta go out on more than a couple of dates to figure out if he’s your lid..multi-tasking also encourages that you aren’t SLOWING THE PARTY DOWN TO FAST WITH THE WRONG PEOPLE..nor are you waiting for the fedex guy to deliver you your soul mate on your door step..it takes ACTIVE DATING..

So I’ll chalk it up and say that I’m not sure if he’ll be a lifetime friend, but I do know we are in each other’s lives for the moment b/c we both have something to learn from each other. Last time I was in the DMV I saw a lot of attractive women. They were pretty down to earth too. You dont get that too much here in Detroit.

I think for someone coming from less of a black chocolate mecca its the business. Im still in awe of the amount of just black people bout it bout it…Professionals, intellectuals, even great skilled blue collar folks..
People who haven’t been here long have a tendancy to pigeon hole the city..they all go to one or two of the same places..but there are some pretty unknown underground spots that attract a variety of different types of eccletic black folk.

I never said there were none. There are over 4 million people (temporarily) in Metro Detroit. I know there are good women here. For some dudes Detroit is Pleasure Island as far as choice in women. They will offer to ride you on their bikes up the street. They will offer to pay your bills. DC has it all when it comes to men. BUT when you start dating some of these men and diggin into the value of them.. sometimes its there .. sometimes it isnt.. and as Comeback said.. We all have different types and standards..

I like DC. I have been here for 8 yrs now. Originally from the west coast. The job market for me has been great. I have seen an increase in salary by at least 10%per year since getting out of grad school. The weather is ok. I am not use to the humidity and I can do without the cold but it is a great place to meet and network with other like minded educated black professionals. The cost of living is high. I bought in bowie, md.. which was cheaper than a condo where I wanted to live in D.C. but relatively high compared to what I could get in my homestate.

Humster the beaches in NC are okay. But since I’ve been here my whole life nothing spectacular to me. Atlantic Beach is cool cause they have other lil entertainment areas, but no major strip like you would find in Miami or even VA Beach or Myrtle.

Personally I never bought into even the higer ratios ..ive heard as high as 16:1 (women to men) i heard a man once say..from his perspective that that doesnt mean all 16 are right for him. Its still 1:1 ultimately.

ok before i get knee deep into sports analogies tha i haven’t the faintest clue about..i’ll just stay birds eye with it…you don’t know the players CAN’T play until they’ve been evaluated. You might have some stars that you don’t even know about unless YOU PUT THEM IN THE GAME, ie DATE THEM.
With my momma we really didn’t have a choice either… She has us in everything…. But in soccer it was just this family affair because every other year me and my sister were on the same team and the years that we were my momma coached our teams.
I had a one day experience from softball…I think I was maybe in 2nd grade and on the first day of practice I acted a fool… I started crying because for one I was the only black girl and I didn’t know anybody on my team… It had just got thrown on me because my momma let this teacher talk her into signing me up for it. Yea, the family still has not let me live that down… Kind of wish I would have at least gave it a chance.

@ Hugh..i think sometimes hot @zz women make it difficult for the more traditional ones..but i think at the end of the day it all evens out..a man gets his just desserts for going with and slowing the party down with THE most PRESSED and not necessarily the who is right for him. Since i do beleive that God does give us more than one soul mate..the measured and balance woman ends up getting her guy..and the desperado chick is still runnign around tryna be everyman’s all and everything.

That Ninja Turtles game was extremely difficult too! I eventually beat it, but that took some effort. That was the next game I thought of after Duck Tales as far as difficulty goes.

I am multi-tasking again and it feels great. I had been out the game for awhile, but now I am back with a vengeance. I will say, however, that this is not my preference. Its just good to occupy my ADD mind until I find a focus.
